7. RF Testing Unit (RFTU)
7.1. Selection
Different RFTU’s can be used in combination with the Connectivity Production Line Tool. Which RFTU to select depends on the target protocol for wireless testing. The available RFTU’s are listed in Table 1

7.2. BLE RFTU
For testing Bluetooth LE applications, Renesas Electronics Coorporation offers the DA14695 USB Kit with RFTU software as a ready to use RF testing solution. The hardware of this RFTU is exactly the same as the standard DA14695 USB Kit, but the RFTU software is preloaded. Instructions for flashing the DA14695 USB Kit with RFTU software can be found in the following section.
7.2.1. Flashing DA14695 USB Kit RFTU
To flash the RFTU software to the DA14695 USB Kit, a flash programmer and the RFTU software binary is needed. The software binary is included with the Connectivity Production Line Tool release package. And as the flash programmer, Renesas Electronics Coorporation SmartSnippets™ Toolbox is recommended. The steps to flash the software are as follows.
Locate the software in the Connectivity Production Line Tool release package at
C:\Renesas Electronics\Renesas Connectivity PLT\Firmware\Rftu\DA14695-00HQDEVKT-U\st_fw.bin

Run the installer
Start SmartSnippets™ Toolbox
Plug in the DA14695 USB Kit, and verify the dip switch settings (Figure 24)

Select the device

Open the programmer

Click import from file

Click prepare image

Click Connect (Figure 32), and if the logs ask to press the reset, press reset button (K2, Figure 33)
Click Read (this will fill the flash size which is needed before programming)
