3. Introduction

The DA14531 is an ultra-low-power System-on-Chip (SoC) that combines a 2.4 GHz transceiver with an Arm® Cortex®-M0+ microcontroller. This versatile SoC serves dual roles, acting as a data pump in hosted systems or a standalone application processor.

One of its key features is the Low IQ Buck/Boost DCDC (DC-DC Converter), which operates efficiently during sleep mode, especially when in Buck mode. This allows the DA14531 to achieve exceptional ultra-low power consumption. Whether used in hosted systems or as a standalone processor, the integrated Low IQ Buck/Boost DCDC ensures outstanding energy efficiency and performance, making it a top choice for various applications.

Important

  1. The DA14531-00 is the main DA14531 device. It is not a new device, the -00 is just a new naming to introduce the new variant DA14531-01.

  2. The DA14531-01 is an additional variant, and NOT a replacement of the DA14531-00.

  3. The DA14530 is pin-for-pin compatible with the DA14531 and provides cost savings by operating from an internal LDO, eliminating the cost of a DC/DC inductor.

  4. The DA14531-01 is a ROM variant of the main DA14531-00. The DA14531-01 only supports peripheral mode and some functions have been moved to ROM, making more memory available for applications.

  5. This guide can also be used as reference for DA14530 due to the similarities between the footprint and the Devkit.

This device is available in a small footprint while still offering large flexibility in configuration of the on-chip interfaces, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. For more information, see

DA14531 Datasheet.

The development kit comprises essential hardware, including a development board equipped with an on-board debugger. It is complemented by comprehensive support from a Software Development Kit (SDK). This SDK includes a complete development toolchain, a rich collection of source code examples, and comprehensive documentation. Together, these resources provide developers with everything they need to kick-start their projects effectively and efficiently.

3.1. Guide Purpose
